From the time I could walk, I camped. Whether it was the backyard, a beach, or the woods, my father would load the car or our packs, and off we’d go. Some of my greatest and most terrifying memories were near a campsite. Like the time my father jumped out of the woods screeching like a mountain lion and scared me into a state of shock. No joke. Or the time that, at the age of four, I befriended a chipmunk who would visit me daily for bits of leftovers I had stored in my pocket from the night before. As I plan getaways for my own family, I am falling in love with camping all over again.
